The Nizhny Tagil and Volkovsky massifs of the Uralian Platinum Belt, and related deposits. Field trip guidebook. 12th International Platinum Symposium.The guidebook illustrates two distinct types of ore-bearing massifs within the 900-km-long Uralian Platinum Belt: the Nizhny Tagil clinopyroxenite-dunite massif and related platinum bedrock and placer deposits, and the Volkovsky gabbro massif comprising copper sulfide deposit with PGE mineralization. Structure of the Tagil zone and general characteristic of magmatism, questions of age and genetic models are briefly outlined. The proposed excursion stops include inspection of different ultramafic and mafic lithologies from natural bedrock outcrops and open-pits.
The materials of the guidebook are of a broad interest for geologists, earth scientists and students.
